Emergia affirms commitment with Peru Offering the highest standards of quality for the Telecommunications Industry in the Country.

Lima, Peru, October 1, 2001- Emergia S.A., a provider of broadband infrastructure services that has completed the largest and most extensive fiber optic system in Latin America, continues to aggressively increase its broadband service offerings and its expansion within the Peruvian market. Emergia has named Cesar Morales, telecommunications expert, as director of Emergia Peru. His role is to guide Emergia into optimum operation levels in Peru. Mr. Morales brings 24 years of vast experience in the telecommunications field. One of his objectives is to maintain customer satisfaction through service offerings of the highest standards of quality, installation time and cost-benefit. Emergia's network, fully operational and available since March 2001, covers approximately 25,000 kilometers (about 16,000 miles) -- the largest in Latin America -- and offers an initial capacity of 40 Gigabits per second (expandable to 1.92 Terabits per second). The network includes 1,600 km of terrestrial fiber optic lines, and landing stations in all the major cities in Latin America, United States and Europe.
