Telefonica International Wholesale Services Signs an agreement to provide broadband capacity to the Portugal Telecom Group.

This agreement initiates the new high capacity fiber optic ring which links Madrid, London and Lisbon.

Madrid, July the 15th, 2002. - Emergia, the broadband communications services provider within the Telefonica International Wholesale Services organization, has announced today, that it signed a capacity sales agreement with Marconi. Marconi, the Portugal Telecom subsidiary for international communications and broadband networks management, has lit last June a 10Gbps circuit on the new high capacity ring, linking Madrid, London and Lisbon.

This brand new infrastructure consolidates Telefonica International Wholesale Services´ broadband supply in Europe, becoming a solid asset for the company by broadening the limited capacity available in these routes.
