Telefonica International Wholesale Services provides direct interconnection with Golden Lines, the second Israeli carrier.

Madrid, October 31st. 2002.- Telefonica International Wholesale Services, the organization within the Telefonica Group providing wholesale telecommunication services, Voice, IP/Data and Capacity, has successfully set up into service the interconnection with Golden Lines, the second Israeli Carrier.

Golden Lines is a company established in July 97 when the Israeli market was opened to competition, shared by three corporate groups, Telecom Italia, The Aurec Group and Globescom. With a 33% market share, provides services to more than 200 countries and has 40 direct interconnections with the main International Carriers.

The new interconnection has been considered strategical for the Telefonica Group due to the high rise in international voice traffic between Israel and the rest of the World.

This agreement greatly increases the resources and international voice traffic transport capacity between the Israeli international switches and those in the countries where Telefonica International Wholesale Services is operating, as in Latin American countries and particularly in Argentina and Brazil where the Israeli community is widely present.
