Telefonica International Wholesale Services supplies GPRS Roaming service to Telefonica Moviles España.

Madrid, November 25th, 2002. - Telefonica International Wholesale Services, the organization within the Telefonica Group providing international wholesale services for communications, has recently started to supply GRX service (GPRS Roaming eXchange) to Telefonica Moviles España.

Telefonica Wholesale's GRX service provides international connectivity between mobile carriers enabling them to offer their customers top quality GPRS Roaming services, multimedia messages (MMS) amongst them.

GPRS technology enables data transmission, Internet access and VPN connectivity from a GSM terminal up to 50kbps.

Thanks to Telefonica Wholesale network, interconnected to more than the 90% of the main GRX carriers in the world, Telefonica Moviles customers, while traveling abroad, and foreign mobile carriers' customers alike, while using Movistar when in Spain, will benefit from the same features and services they enjoy in their own countries.

Present at the Amsterdam GRX Peering (GPA), the main European GRX traffic hub, Telefonica Wholesale is leading the GRX's main providers working group to create a second peering point in Europe and is also an active member of the GRX Task Force, the body for the main GRX and wireless carriers in the market altogether with the GSM Association.
