Telefonica International Wholesale Services provides International Connectivity to the ecuadorian group TELCONET

Will provide International Capacity on EMERGIA, the latest generation fiber optic network, and IP Transit with direct access to 80% of the Spanish and Portuguese contents.

Geneva, October 15 2003.- Telefonica International Wholesale Services, global provider of international wholesale services within the Telefonica Group, has signed an agreement with the Ecuadorian Group and telecommunications service provider in Ecuador, TELCONET.

This agreement involves International Capacity on Telefonica Wholesale's latest generation self healing fiber optic network and IP Transit with direct interconnections to the main traffic exchange nodes in the world.

TELCONET, established in Guayaquil, with branches in several cities in Ecuador, relies on its own telecommunication infrastructure with fiber optic networks in Quito and Guayaquil, as well as one Metropolitan Wireless Backbone for the main cities in the country.
